Reasons to be Cheerful Part one.

This week is already looking very busy and just a touch frantic, I am not sure how much sleep I will get or peace but I would rather have busy weeks than quiet ones. To celebrate that fact I am looking at the silver linings of life I am sharing things that make me smile or cheer my world up.
There will be future cheerful posts hence the part one :-) the reason this came to be was due to a blast from my past that I must have heard recently to make my memory bring the title up now.

This is part 3 which again presupposes that there are two former parts that exist, but I have not found them (haven't looked hard) but it makes me smile.

Went to a Careers fair at the weekend and was struck by just how many great companies we have up here and how lucky we are to have so many skills and potential available. It was organised by Skills Development Scotland to help local job seekers find work and local firms find new apprentices etc. The list of companies was over 40 with some being very very local and other having local offices here. I spent a while chatting with various folk and I must confess I gave out more cards than I took but I am increasing the opportunities for partnership working. I will re-visit this event with follow up information as it occurs.

Another reason to be cheerful is for us the weather is quite mild, I know the south is being battered and there have been photos of big waves along the south coast but for us the winds are much less and (shhh) the sun is shining. We are also more than half way through the Prelims and no one has run screaming from the building (pupils of staff) which is also a win. The Rugby was good and well worth a watch, with some great score lines that leave the results open. In a wave of Patriotism for my adopted country I have been listening to this all morning.

Beautiful music and fab scenery, well played and well done. win all round.

Despite Valentines day being just over the way I am more looking forward to Easter when I get to Milan, and more of this is getting sorted, we now have flights, hotels and train links :-) and plans... Meanwhile I have been drooling over jewelry, which as I tend to not wear any is a bit counter productive, but you look and see if this doesn't make you drool and plan. Alyssa Smith and Lark and Lily, both talented lasses and both doing well, lark and lily is even a local lass, oh but look how good their work is! Must get back to wearing things again, gave up when small hands would grab them but youngest is now 18! so no excuse!

On one of the blogs I follow I came across this about not Streaming and Driving and how he wants to make it a don't stream and drive day to raise awareness. I started to follow this blog years ago as an example of a personal but work type blog, of how to tread the fine line between professional and sounding off. I have come to have great respect for him and his blog and would highly recommend giving it a read or even a follow.

Not much Library things but lots to be cheerful for and with National libraries day at the weekend to raise  profile, long may it continue.

Always look on the bright side of life.

I had so many plans and ideas for this week, my daughter is home for 2 scant weeks and then she is away to the US to work again for camp america. My youngest has his final high school exams happening and there is enough sun to stop using the tumble drier and start hanging out washing.

Now I am sure you can guess that none has happened the way I planned. Daughter had to go to London to get her Visa from the american embassy and her paper work was late and caused no end of hassle, she said 'get me to London the easiest and cheapest way mum'... :-) She now hates buses and is muttering about how much she hates buses in every contact. She now has just over a week left to do everything she planned in the two weeks and I have to make another T shirt for Nev.
Last years shirt was a Camp America shirt this years will be a Camp Letts shirt :-) which he will look so sweet in.

My youngest had just done his English and I asked him the car as I dropped him off for his exam what texts he studied, he had to think about what the titles were, I am now a wee bit worried for his results. He wasn't thrilled with the exam and came home straight after to talk to friends online. We shall just have to hope.

I had lots of work this week and some school stuff that had to be done in a timely fashion so of course my cleaner had a small fire at my desk one night knocking my whole world out of shape and meaning I am playing catch up, and I am sure I have missed something! The complete contents of the space behind my desk was moved to allow for a proper check and fixing! but then I took nearly 2 hours just to put back the stuff they moved! I make my world more settled I have had 3 visits from management who all noted that this should give a chance to sort and bin stuff!

I did manage to hang out some laundry this morning and we shall see how dry it is or if the rain falls and the boys miss it! My towels will all be wet I fear, But the morning was so bright and sunny and warm, the cats all ran for the trees and grass to stalk the birds and mice that seem to be every where. The Cherry tree is in full bloom and the apples and to my joy my crab apple tree and the new pear tree are also in bloom, the garden looks lovely.

My wonderful and very very valuable assistant has now been with me a year and has suggested she help make me a timetable to help keep things organised and done in a timely manner :-) I am so pleased, I have so much and so often realize that I should have done this last week or the week before that getting a timetable will be perfect.

SAD

I was chatting with Friends and someone suggested I get a light box to cheer me and contract the SAD, I am not sure I have this and that it would work for me and make me less flat in winter but today is one of those lovely winter days when the sky is almost completely clear and the prettiest blue, while the sun is bright and mellow, low but warming in the sun and the wind isn't too harsh in the shadow, a day I would love to be out walking or at the least in the sun, while I work away watching through distant windows over the town or squint as the low sun lines it self up on my machine! but I can't find it in me to complain, or grumble as the sun is welcome and in summer the light never drops that low to get in my library I should enjoy the sun while I can. It is now rising as I go to work and if not late I see it at home too, spring is coming the cold isn't lingering as long and even the last of the snow is melting, mind you poor loch Watten has great sheets of ice across it, never seen it freeze across until this winter and now it wont go...
I shall bask in my glow and enjoy, as rain isn't far away this time of year.
